History

Life in Mission began as a blog for me to share experiences that I had while overseas in the mission field. I was very interested and passionate about overseas mission work. While overseas missions is a very important part of the Christian faith, my perspective over the years may have not always been a balanced one.

Not everyone is called overseas to the remotest spots of the globe. Everyone has a place in the Lord’s work, and it varies from the African bush, to the metropolis of Bangkok, to the neighbors next door, and even those within our own home. Each of God’s children has a task and a place in His vineyard. We may find everywhere across the globe people who are untouched by the love of God, either because they have never heard of Jesus, or because they have never recognized God’s love. The job of the Christian is to be a blessing and to reflect Jesus to all those around him or her. Reflecting Jesus can take the form of kind words, loving acts, and smiles, just as well as preaching, teaching, and doing Bible studies. We each have an influence, no matter how large or small, and this influence is a talent that God has entrusted us with for the purpose of blessing other people with the knowledge of God.

The treasured truth that Seventh-day Adventists hold is that of the three angels’ messages. These include overseas missions, along with the health message, and the message of righteousness by faith and sharing the gospel in general. These messages must go to the world before Jesus can return. We may each play a part by doing the work that lies nearest.
